About CRRU resources
The mandate of the Childcare Resource and Research Unit is to focus on
provision, synthesis, analysis, and dissemination of information resources
on early childhood education and care (ECEC) policy and research. The
Resources section contains print and other materials that fit this mandate.
Childcare
Information Resource Collection (CIRC)
CIRC is the database that organizes CRRU's resource collection of PRINT
materials on ECEC policy. The database contains nearly 17,000 catalogued
and fully searchable records.
ISSUE files
Each ISSUE file features online readings about topical issues in early
childhood education and care policy.

This resource is a collection of online readings about current early childhood
education and care policy and program delivery issues in Canada.
Early childhood education
and care in Canada 2008
This comprehensive report, the 8th edition since 1992, provides key data on child
care and kindergarten across Canada. It tracks spaces, finances, quality issues
and public policy developments at the provincial/ territorial and federal levels,
includes demographic information such as mothers' labour force participation,
and identifies trends over time.

Quality by Design
The Quality by Design project is intened to promote and inform discussion,
debate and knowledge about quality in ELCC. This project builds upon previous
work to broaden and deepen Canadian approaches to quality in ELCC. It
is intended to contribute to quality as Canada's new national ELCC program
- framed by the "QUAD" principles of Quality, Universality,
Accessibility and Developmental [ness] - develops.
